13 John Fleming Strategist John had several corporate positions, founded a company himself, and then one day Avon called. His good friend, who was president of Avon North America, invited John to lead a strategy that would transform the way Avon had been doing business for over 100 years. John led the team that designed and then implemented the multi-level compensation plan known as the Avon Leadership Program. The Avon Leadership Program grew to represent approximately 50 percent of Avon U.S. in corporate revenues. John has always been involved with both the Direct Selling Association and the Direct Selling Education Foundation, and he served for 10 years after his retirement from Avon as publisher and editor-in-chief of Direct Selling News . John is a member of the Direct Selling Association Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Direct Selling Education Foundation’s Circle of Honor Award, and the first person to receive the Direct Selling News Lifetime Achiever Award.
